BOYS AND THEIR TOYS......

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to photograph these two fine young men. I have known the boys for several years and I am amazed by how much they have grown. Of course they had to have shots with all of their toys out on the farm. We started with the tractor.....

then moved on to the pick up and the dirtbikes.

I can imagine that had there been a little snow on the ground that the snowmobiles would have also made an appearance.

READY OR NOT....HERE WE GO....

Is it me or was Christmas 2008 just like……yesterday? It still amazes me that the older we get the faster time passes. I can never quite understand why it seems as though the holidays sneak up on us; after all the retail stores have had holiday displays up since July and the radio stations started their continuous rotation of holiday music two weeks before Thanksgiving.

Personally, I enjoy the more traditional holiday celebrations, caroling, sleigh rides, & hot cocoa & sugar cookies by the fireplace on Christmas Eve. Recently our town reignited an old tradition of lighting the Community Christmas Tree. Some of our citizens even get all decked out for this affair (see photo). It is one great tradition that brings people, both young and old, together in the spirit of the holiday without all the hustle and bustle of the shopping mall.

So this year, I have decided to take it slow and bring into my home some of the traditions of my childhood so that my children can have fonder memories of the kinds of things we did together as a family instead of all the “stuff” they may have received.

LAUGHTER

The joy of laughter resonated today when I spent the afternoon with Jayme and Sarah. These two are the best of friends, but it is one of those long distance relationships. Sarah moved away a year or so ago but was in town for a 10 day visit. Jayme had been anxiously awaiting Sarah's arrival for some time, and excitedly accepted my offer of a Girlfriends Session.

Needless to say these two were blast to work with, especially Sarah who was more than willing (with a little coaxing) to get a little dirty for the session.

Thank you ladies for a wonderful afternoon, I hope you enjoy your pics.

WHERE WERE YOU?

I remember the first time I saw a John Hughes film...Sixteen Candles. After that I was hooked, I have several of these in my DVD collection and pull them out now and again just to relive the memories of my youth. Tell me I am not the only one that when they watch these films they are taken back to the very first time they saw them?

John Hughes introduced us to so many of the fine actors we still enjoy today, many of them with just bit parts in the films...John Cusak and Robert Downey, Jr. for instance. His masterful genius will be missed.
